GOLD Challenge Draws Support from 941 Young Alumni

DePauw’s GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) alumni made a strong showing in the seventh annual GOLD Challenge – a one-day, social media-based fundraising challenge – which took place on Nov. 2, 2016. Even in the midst of an epic World Series championship game, 941 alumni from the classes of 2007-16 made gifts in support of The Fund for DePauw within a 24-hour period. GOLD alumni made an outstanding impact by increasing DePauw’s overall alumni participation by 3.4 percent and raising more than $37,000 in support of The Fund for DePauw.

Classes celebrating their 5th and 10th Reunions this year both set records for their GOLD Challenge participation percentage, and the 5th Reunion also set a record high for number of donors – 121 – during the one-day challenge. Twenty-four percent of the Class of 2012 participated, while 18 percent of graduates from the Class of 2007 participated.

In addition to boosting the participation rate, GOLD alumni triggered $50,000 in matching fund support that was provided by William Scott Priebe ’00 and Lindsay Hunt Priebe ’01 and Sarah C. Gormley ’94. Portions of the matching funds were released as GOLD alumni reached participation benchmarks throughout the day.

Thanks to all who helped #ShoulderTheBoulder this year!
